2. Obtain the VirtualBox machine image

Download the machine image for our course, which is a clean installation of 32-bit XUbuntu 16.04.1 LTS. It is a lightweight version of the original Ubuntu. The image, named "3150_Xubuntu.ova", can be obtained here.

The settings of the VM:

  • OS: XUbuntu 16.04.1 LTS (32-bit)
  • CPU: 1
  • Memory: 1 GB
  • Disk: 10 GB
  • GCC: 5.4.0
